| Shortly before 4:00pm on Sunday afternoon, Nanuet FD was alerted to respond to the scene of an overturned vehicle in the area of 142 Convent Rd. with possible parties trapped inside. Upon signing in service, 2nd Asst. Chief Todd Giraudin (8-3) was notified by 44-Control that a single vehicle had struck a tree and came to rest on its roof. It was unclear how many occupants were still trapped inside.
Upon arriving on scene just a few minutes later, Asst Chief Giraudin updated the location to inside the Seton Village apartment complex, and confirmed that only one victim remained in the overturned vehicle.
Crews from 8-EQ, led by Captain Bill Schoenleber (8-4) removed the driver's door and gained access to the patient. Firefighter and EMT Vincent Tuzzolino quickly assessed the patient's condition while others stabilized the vehicle. As firefighters accessed the vehicle through the rear window, the victim was freed from her seat and placed onto a backboard, then slid out of the car.
The patient was transported to a nearby hospital by Nanuet EMS, and all units returned to normal around 4:45pm. |
