| At 9:43pm on Monday night, May 5th, Chief Mike Mattera called Rockland County's 44-Control to inform them that 8-1500, Nanuet's new KME Predator Pumper, was now in full service.
The culmination of two years of dedicated work, 8-1500 is designed to be similar in layout to both 8-EQ and 8-1750. It has taken the place of 8-1750 as the second due/hydrant pumper. It is equipped with 2, 200' 1 3/4" and 1, 200' 2 1/2" preconnected attack lines fed by a 1500 gpm pump, and a 750 gallon water tank. It also carries a compliment of HURST "Jaws of Life" hydraulic and air powered rescue tools.
The Nanuet Fire Department's committment to safety continues with 8-1500. The new pumper is outfitted with the latest technological advances in firefighter safety including dynamic seatbelt monitoring, RollTek rollover protection, and SmartDock SCBA holders.
Nanuet volunteers were excited Monday night, breaking into a round of applause as Chief Mattera made the official call to 44-Control. The pumper, professionally staffed by volunteers, will serve and protect the Nanuet community for many years to come.
