Late Saturday afternoon a crew of Nanuet FD volunteers packed up 8-1750 and headed south to neighboring Pearl River H&L Co. The Pearl River Fire Department was out of service from 5pm Saturday evening until 6am Sunday morning celebrating their annual dinner banquet.

The usually quiet hamlet proved busy in the early hours of the standby as Nanuet volunteers answered 3 calls in the first few hours of the evening. Although 2 of the alarms were malfunctions and the third was a good intent call, the Nanuet volunteers were kept busy traveling from one side of town to the other.

For many years now, the Nanuet and Pearl River Fire Departments have stood by for each other on the night of the other department's annual dinner, allowing each other to enjoy the evening without the pressures of being alert and responding to fire calls throughout the night.

8-1750 and crew returned to Nanuet around 6:00am Sunday morning.
