The Nanuet fire department was alerted to a reported motor-home fire at the Nanuet Mall's carnival on Rt. 59 in Nanuet today.

While performing routine code inspections at the carnival, Clarkstown Fire Inspectors Vinny Narciso and our own Harold Straut discovered a working fire in a 40' motor home. The duo promptly requested the dispatch of the fire department and then proceed to knock down the fire with extinguishers from the carnival staff. Upon arrival of the fire department unit, Fire Inspector and Ex-Chief Straut advised the Chiefs of the condition of the fire. When first arriving units got on scene the main fire was already extinguished and only precautionary overhaul and salvage had to be done by the members of Nanuet FD.

If it was not for the fast action and thorough investigation by the Clarkstown Fire Inspectors, this fire may have been a lot worse due to the nature of the materials that mobile home are constructed out of.
