MORNING CAR FIRE SNARLS NYS THRUWAY TRAFFIC

Shortly after 8:30am on Monday morning, Nanuet FD was alerted to respond to the New York State Thruway southbound in the area of exit 14. Upon arriving on scene, Chief Chris Koester (8-1) confirmed the working car fire, which was located underneath an overpass.
Because of the hazardous location of the vehicle, the decision was made to close the Thruway southbound until the blaze could be brought under control.
Crews from 8-EQ, led by Captain BJ Ready (8-4) quickly and safely extinguished the burning 4-door sedan.
The roadway was re-opened shortly after, and traffic began to flow normally again.
