Shortly before 4pm on Monday afternoon, Nanuet FD was alerted to respond to a reported gas main rupture on Renee Ln in Bardonia, near the intersection of Jay St.

While en route, responding units were updated by 44-Control that a contractor digging in the road had struck and ruptured a high pressure gas main. Orange & Rockland Utilities was advised to respond ASAP.

Arriving on scene shortly thereafter, crews from Nanuet FD assisted Orange & Rockland with securing the scene and evacuating the surrounding houses.

O&R was able shut the main within the hour, and repair work continued well into the evening.
