Shortly before 9am on Tuesday morning, Nanuet FD was alerted to respond to a car fire on the New York State Thruway northbound.

Crews out on training exercises responded to the scene, finding a single car fully involved, directly in the vicinity of the Palisades Parkway overpass.

The blaze was quickly extinguished using tank water from 8-EQ and 8-1500. Motorists on Palisades Parkway overpass above the scene used caution as thick smoke enveloped the bridge.

All units returned to normal service shortly by 10am.
