At 4:14pm Friday afternoon, Nanuet FD was alerted to respond with a pumper and manpower to neighboring South Spring Valley for a house fire.

Upon arriving on scene, Nanuet volunteers were immediately put to work performing a secondary search of the split level residence. Nanuet FD veterans Asst Chief Bill Schoenleber and firefighter Brian O'Toole ascended to the roof of the structure to cut a ventilation hole, clearing out smoke and heat for the crews working below.

After assisting South Spring Valley FD (Dept 25) volunteers with the remaining overhaul work, all units returned to normal service in the early evening hours.
