Shortly after 4pm on Friday afternoon, Nanuet FD was alerted to respond to a reported vehicle fire in the parking lot of the Coupe Dance Studio on West Nyack Rd.

En route to the scene, Nanuet FD units were updated that the Clarkstown PD was reporting a working car fire with possible extension to the building.

Arriving on scene minutes later, crews from 8-EQ made quick work of the involved car, and prevented the blaze from causing any significant damage to the business.

Assistant Chief Bill Schoenleber (8-3) praised the passing motorists who called 911.
"If this had been in the middle of the night, it might have been 3 or 4 minutes longer before the fire department was called, and the building could have been well involved by then."

All units returned to normal service shortly thereafter.
