On Sunday March 16th, Nanuet volunteers, along with their family members, joined together to participate in the annual St. Baldrick's fundraiser.

Each year, the St. Baldrick's foundation raises money for childhood cancer by offering participants the opportunity to shave their heads bald and raise money from friends and family.

With events taking place around the nation, the St. Baldrick's Foundation funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization.

While individual members had participated in the event for years, 2014 marked the 5th year that NFD participated together as a team in support of late honorary firefighter Patrick Chance.

Stricken with Neuroblastoma, Patrick Chance was adopted by the Nanuet fire department as an honorary member in 2007. He was able to visit the firehouse several times and although he battled bravely against his disease, he passed away peacefully in January of 2012.

In his memory, the Nanuet fire department team raised over $6000 between almost a dozen participants this year.
